Connect – Share – Discover
Forum Topic: Cultural Protocols in our Town
Date: Monday 26 May 2014
Time: 9.30am – 1pm
Place: Lotteries House, Leake Street, South Hedland
Forum Objective: To provide an opportunity for community members, both aboriginal and non-aboriginal, agencies, Council officers, and local businesses to make connections, share ideas, resolve issues and celebrate community achievements.
Forum Topic: This forum will focus on Cultural Protocols in our Town. Discussions will be around cultural awareness, protocols in Town and developing solutions to better integrate our community (including Aboriginal residents and visitors).
Please encourage a representative from your organisation to attend to ensure a comprehensive, multi-agency approach.
Background: In 2010, the Town of Port Hedland launched a series of quarterly consultation forums designed to effectively address any issues or concerns of the Aboriginal community. These forums are open to all members of the Aboriginal community so that those with relevant knowledge or interest can attend and ensure that the forum focuses on an issue that is applicable to them. Also invited are representatives from relevant agencies and organisations who may be able to assist community members and add value to the discussions. Agencies and groups with Aboriginal staff members are encouraged to appoint these employees to represent them at the Forum where possible, to try and ensure a majority of Aboriginal people at the forums.
Please pass on this invite to anyone you feel would be interested in the discussions.
This forum will take place on Monday 26 May 2014 at Lotteries House in South Hedland from 9.30am – 1pm. This includes time for informal networking over lunch.
Please RSVP to email@example.com for catering purposes.
We hope that you will be able to attend and look forward to seeing you there.
