President’s Foreword

The Port Hedland Chamber of Commerce had undertaken a commitment to develop an office space designed to accommodate small businesses. This office space, with the operational support from the likes of Spacecubed and Pollinators will ensure that the following objectives are met:

  • Multi-functional
  • Strong base revenue
  • Create oppertunities for interaction
  • Provide motivation and networking
  • Provide access to funding and business services
  • Provide physical and virtual space

The space will become an asset for the small business community of Port Hedland to enable better access to services and greater opportunities to collaborate with other local businesses, with all-inclusive flexible lease options there is a structure to suit all small businesses.

The PHCCI are pleased to advise that the East Pilbara Innovation Centre has successfully executed the funding agreements from BHP Billiton and PDC Royalties for Regions. This has triggered the commencement of the design process with the design team appointed and underway with detailed design, approvals and construction to follow. It is a forecast that the space will be open and operational in the first quarter of 2018.

The site is now under the ownership of the PHCCI and demolition of the existing dwelling will be underway in the coming months.

The PHCCI is committed to working in partnership with the government, industry and private enterprise to increase the region's capacity for sustainable growth through increased business numbers. This means coming up with practical, creative-solutions to the carriers to success the local business community is facing and helping you develop strong, meaningful and profitable business relationships.

One of our biggest and most popular networking events, the PHCCI Business Breakfast Series, continued to grow in 2016.

Our team works really hard to present an engaging program of speakers that provide exclusive, local insight into some of the issues impacting the day-to-day running of your business.

We’ve heard from high-level business, government and industry leaders with agendas that featured project updates, market forecasts, political policy decisions and expansion announcements.

And we can’t forget the biggest night on the Hedland business community calendar…  The PHCCI Business of the Year Awards!

With an unprecedent amount of submissions last year the PHCCI Business of the Year Awards continues to be a fantastic celebration of the local business communities' contribution to the regional economy.

Twelve very deserving individuals and businesses were recognised at the awards ceremony themes 'Casino Royale' including the 2016 BHP Billiton Overall Winner- Scope Business Imaging.

Winner of the PHCCI People's Choice Award, with more than 350 votes, was Yummy Noodle in Port Hedland.

Well done to everyone who received a nomination in the PHCCI Business of the Year Awards.

I’d like to acknowledge the hard work and dedication of our 11-member, executive committee and PHCCI staff.  Your energy and enthusiasm has driven impressive growth across our organisation including membership and business activities.

Thank you to all our members who have supported the PHCCI’s projects and initiatives – without your support none of this would be possible.

Finally on behalf of all of us here at the PHCCI I hope that this directory is of significant value and remind you that our friendly staff are always available if you require any assistance.
