Speaker Spotlight – Women of the Pilbara Forum 2025
Join us at the Women of the Pilbara Forum to hear from Melissa Knaggs, Psychologist – Melissa Knaggs Psychology
I’ve been living and working in the Pilbara (Port Hedland) since 2018. Like many, I arrived not quite knowing what to expect, but the rawness, the resilience, and the quiet strength of this region quickly got under my skin in the best possible way. It’s where I’ve grown the most as a Psychologist, and it’s also the birthplace of both my children and the foundation of our family life. The Pilbara has shaped me deeply, and it has become home in ways I never could have anticipated.
My passion for the Pilbara is deeply tied to the people who live here. As a Psychologist, I have the privilege of walking alongside individuals during some of their most vulnerable moments and what I see time and time again is a fierce courage to keep showing up despite adversity. The Pilbara presents unique challenges: Geographical isolation, limited access to services, and the intense pressures that come with both industry and family life. But it also holds opportunity, the chance to do meaningful grassroots work that creates lasting change. What drives me is the belief that access to high-quality mental health care shouldn’t depend on your postcode, and that supporting the wellbeing of our community, especially our women and mothers, is foundational to the strength of the region.
Save the Date 15th-16th October at the Women of the Pilbara Forum, Hedland Hotel – Port Hedland.
