On the road Thanks to Port Hedland Mazda
This week, our CEO Scott visited Jason Hill (Northwest Area Manager) and Nikhil Gujadhur (Service Manager) at WesTrac’s Port Hedland branch to discuss their operations and long term aspirations. WesTrac is the largest Caterpillar® dealership in the world, and the Port Hedland branch has been operating from its Bell Street location for over 70 years. The team is focused on delivering whole-of-life equipment management solutions that make machinery easier, safer, and more profitable to operate. WesTrac helps customers achieve ESG goals by reducing emissions through technology and vehicle automation, delivering both carbon and cost savings across mining and construction sites. WesTrac also plays an important role in the local community. They are heavily involved in school based traineeships at Hedland Senior High School, along with an expanding local apprenticeship program. Their recent hiring of a second generation staff member highlights their ongoing commitment to growing a skilled local workforce. Lastly, Tina and Jess stopped by Care For Hedland Environmental Association – Containers For Change, where Kelly shared some impressive statistics with them. Since the program’s launch in 2020, they’ve collected an incredible 43,892,662 containers. In last month alone, an amazing 786,924 plastic bottles, cans, glass bottles, and other recyclables were processed, highlighting the tremendous impact of the community’s recycling efforts. On August 13th, 2025, the team achieved their biggest single day count yet, refunding an impressive 55,917 containers. The Containers for Change scheme encourages recycling by offering refunds on most beverage containers between 150mL and 3L, excluding plain milk containers, wine bottles, spirits bottles and a few others. Residents can easily check container eligibility by scanning the barcode on the official Containers for Change website. The Wedgefield Depot is open weekdays from 8 am to 4 pm and Saturdays from 8 am to 1 pm, closing on Sundays and public holidays. In addition to the depot, a mobile refund point runs every fourth Saturday of the month from 8 am to 10 am at the South Hedland Shopping Centre car park, near the Coles entrance.
