PHCCI MEMBER VISITS
PHCCI MEMBER VISITS
On the road thanks to Port Hedland Mazda Beep Beep! π
The PHCCI team have been out and about this week visiting members.
The team visited Fiona at Programmed Apprenticeships and Traineeships.
With more than 25 years of experience working in the Pilbara, Programmed supports local businesses by recruiting, employing and developing apprentices and trainees, then placing them with host employers across the region. Their GTO model provides structure, consistency and hands-on support for both employers and employees throughout the entire training journey.
The national apprenticeship completion rate sits at around 55%, Programmed consistently achieves completion rates above 90%. For local businesses, that means employees are far more likely to stick with it and finish what they start. It reduces the frustration of starting over, cuts down on recruitment and re-training costs, and gives employers confidence that the time they invest in training will pay off. The result is more fully qualified workers who stay in the local community and continue to add value long after their training is complete.
Programmed operates from the Web Business Hub in Port Hedland, giving local businesses direct access to on-the-ground support. A key part of this local presence is Apprentice Advisor, Fiona Paterson, who works closely with both employees and employers from sign-up through to completion. Fiona provides guidance, regular check-ins and practical support to help apprentices and trainees stay on track and succeed.

Our CEO Scott was fortunate to win the business card raffle at the Europcar booth at the 2025 Pilbara Summit. Part of his prize was tickets to the Europcar box for a Wildcats game, which he was able to enjoy on Thursday 22nd January when the Wildcats hosted the Cairns Taipans.
A big thank you to Mark Phillips, (WA Corporate Sales Manager) who hosted the evening. Mark and the team at Europcar are major supporters of regional chambers across WA and they are always on hand to provide our members with great rates and faultless service on any of your fleet or individual vehicle hire needs.
If you are heading to the Pilbara Summit this year, make sure you stop by the Europcar booth, chat to Mark, and enter their business card draw. Itβs a prize worth winning!

Last week, Scott caught up with Graeme Parker, Chief Operating Officer of Norwest Cranes.
Norwest Crane Hire are another Pilbara business success story.
Founder and Managing Director, Bernie Johnson, started a small crane and truck hire business in Exmouth in 2008 along with his partner, Toni Jessop. They moved their main operation to Port Hedland in 2010 to meet growing demand and since that time, they have grown to become a leading provider of fully integrated crane and transportation services throughout the Pilbara.
With additional bases in Tom Price and Newman, they are able to provide an extensive range of local support services, with cranes ranging from 20 tonne franna cranes, right through to 650 tonne Liebherr all-terrain cranes.
We welcome Norwest Cranes on board this year as a corporate sponsor and look forward to them becoming regular attendees at our events.
You can contact the Port Hedland Operations Centre with enquiries about their services on 9172 3022.
