Speaker Feature – Women of the Pilbara Forum 2025 Join us at the Women of the Pilbara Forum to hear from Kate Holling, BHP Western Australia General Manager Rail, Western Australian Iron Ore operations (WAIO)
We asked Kate a few questions in the lead-up to the Forum:
How long have you been in the Pilbara for?I have worked in the Pilbara since 2008. During that 17 years I have spent time in Port Hedland, Newman and our more remote sites in the central Pilbara as well.
Where does your passion for the Pilbara come from? Tell us what drives you to do what you do.My passion for the Pilbara has to come from being in nature. Growing up I loved camping and being outside. Now working in the Pilbara it never gets old – the big wide open spaces, the big sky, and the incredible beauty of the place and its extremes.
What drives me to do what I do? Impact. I love working in an industry that’s so important to people, communities and our state and country. What we do here matters and makes a difference to people and that motivates me.
Tell us why you are excited to be a part of Women of the Pilbara 2025?I’m just looking forward to meeting lots of other fantastic folks from the Pilbara. No doubt some old faces and some new, but it’s always good to take the time to connect with each other.
