We asked Ambika some questions ahead of the Forum:
How long have you been in the Pilbara?My family and I packed up our lives in Queensland and moved to the Pilbara in 2018. Nearly eight years later, what started as a big leap has truly become home. From red dirt adventures to raising our kids in a close-knit community, the Pilbara has shaped us in ways we never imagined—and we wouldn’t have it any other way.
Where does your passion for the Pilbara come from?The realities of regional life hit hard at first—gruelling summers, cyclones, remoteness. But once the shock passed, I appreciated the rewards of small-town living. With two school-aged children, the greatest gift has been quality family time. Most of all, it’s the community spirit that inspires me. From volunteering at local schools and clubs to contributing to grassroots initiatives, I’ve found real joy in giving back. The Pilbara has given me a profound sense of belonging and purpose—that’s what drives me every day.
Why are you excited to be part of Women of the Pilbara 2025?Through serving as an elected member and being involved in community groups, I’ve met incredible women from all walks of life. Whether building careers, running businesses, raising families, or volunteering, the women of Port Hedland shine with resilience and strength. I’m thrilled to be part of the Forum—a platform to celebrate, learn from, and be inspired by the amazing women shaping our community.
