We asked Amanda three questions ahead of the Forum:
How long have you been in the Pilbara?I spent my early years between Dongara and Learmonth, which was then part of the Pilbara, as my parents built up their business. While my family relocated to Perth as the business grew, we always maintained our connections with the region. In 2024 I was given the opportunity to return to the region that I love, and live on the family property just south of Exmouth
Where does your passion for the Pilbara come from? Tell us what drives you to do what you do.My passion for the Pilbara comes from the people that live here. The Pilbara contributes immensely to the economy of the nation and the State. The true richness in this area comes, however, from the people of the Pilbara and who contribute also to the character of our nation. This is what makes this region a great place to live. I remain a community advocate to make it easier for people who live here, and to stay.
Why are you excited to be part of Women of the Pilbara 2025?Women tend to be written out of history, and our roles portrayed as nameless supporting mothers, sisters and daughters only. This is changing and women are being recognised for their contribution to the region. It is an honour to be part of this forum.
