Speaker Spotlight – Women of the Pilbara Forum 2025 Join us at the Women of the Pilbara Forum to hear from Kim Samiotis, Lawyer at Samiotis Legal.
We asked Kim a few questions ahead of the Forum:
How long have you been in the Pilbara for?I’ve lived in the Pilbara for close to 16 years. I grew up in Marble Bar before moving to Albany to complete high school. I relocated to Port Hedland 5 ½ years ago to live closer to family after my eldest daughter was born. The Pilbara is home to me and my family. I’m grateful every day to be able to live and work in this region.
Where does your passion for the Pilbara come from?Having lived in a number of other regional areas in WA, I consider the Pilbara has a unique character and a beauty that isn’t replicated anywhere else. I never tire of the landscapes in the Pilbara.
Port Hedland is one of the friendliest towns I’ve lived in, perhaps it is the degree of isolation that has helped to bring community members together here. It is telling that many people move back to the Pilbara after spending time away, as I have done. I am passionate about being able to raise my daughters in the region that I grew up in and being able to contribute my work to the community.
Why are you excited to be part of Women of the Pilbara 2025?The Forum presents an opportunity to connect with other women from the Pilbara who share a connection with this region and have a passion for contributing to the community. It is important for women to have the chance to exchange their experiences of working and living in this region and to encourage other women who may already be working or considering starting business in the Pilbara.
