The PHCCI team were pleased to catch up with the Charter Hall team during a recent member visit and learn more about the work they do in managing and supporting South Hedland Square.
South Hedland Square plays an important role in the local community, bringing together a diverse range of retailers, services and businesses that cater to the everyday needs of the Hedland community.
It was a great opportunity to connect, chat about the local business landscape and hear more about the ongoing work and opportunities at the centre.

Whilst in Perth Tina popped in to see the team at Benchmark Construction WA.
John and Fiona Williams lead Benchmark Construction, a Western Australian commercial construction company that has been operating for nearly a decade, with a strong focus on projects across the Pilbara and Kimberley. John is Benchmark’s Managing Director, bringing more than two decades of construction, engineering and project leadership experience, while Fiona, as Business & Safety Manager, supports the company’s operational, safety and compliance capability.
Benchmark’s core services are Design & Construct, Project Management and Construction Delivery. What differentiates the business is its emphasis on early collaboration, practical value engineering and regional construction experience – working with clients to test assumptions, improve buildability and establish commercially achievable pathways before significant time and cost are committed.
That approach is currently being applied to the $21 million Port Hedland Seafarers Centre for Pilbara Ports. Through early engagement with the client and project team, Benchmark reviewed the proposed delivery approach and identified more than $2 million in projected construction cost reductions, while maintaining the project’s intended outcome and improving buildability and delivery certainty.
